David Partner went to The Rift Valley in Kenya to photograph the children and staff of The Crane Academy and came back with a room full of memories of this special place. David, a parent at the Royal High School, is one of Britain’s top photographic artists; his 'Heads of Government' portraits were exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery in 2005. Recently commissioned by The House of Commons to photograph 100 portraits of the staff of The House, 'Working for Parliament', he works to private and public commission, and has photographed many top commercial assignments here and abroad.

For the last three years the Royal High School Bath has committed itself to developing links with the Crane Academy in North West Kenya.

Although its facilities and resources are limited, it has much to teach us about the real value of education. There are significant problems for children, whose parents often cannot afford schooling, owing to HIV and, most recently, from the unrest following the elections.

A trust was launched in 2006 with help and support from numerous individuals and organisations; functions have been organised, including an evening with Midge Ure, and a fashion show using models from the school and the Bath Rugby Team. The trust currently funds six students as well as support with books and teaching aids.

All proceeds from the exhibition will go to the trust.
