'Sudden outburst of colour in Bath....'

Opened on Friday 29th June, this was an exhibition of paintings which explored and celebrated the many possibilities of colour.

Stephen Webster lives in Batheaston, and first moved to Bath in 1977. He studied at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham from 1969-70 and, after Leeds University and Chelsea School of Art, returned there as Fellow in Painting, 1976-77.

In the early 1980s he ran The Bridge Street Gallery in Bath and then the Festival Gallery between 1983-4.

Work in the exhibition ranged from one large early painting - 'Sun Vistas', not seen in Bath since 1978, through selected works from the 1980s and 90s up to recently completed paintings, small and medium sized.

This was an opportunity for collectors or spur-of-the-moment buyers to purchase work direct from the artist at very reasonable prices.

Prices ranged from around £100 for a small framed work on paper, up to £3,000 for the one-off, remarkable 'Sun Vistas'.
