Recent work by David Inshaw and Bridget Macdonald

Inshaw and Macdonald were both born in 1943 but they share more than the same year of birth. They share a deep interest in and love of the English landscape. They also share a serious commitment to exploring it in paint. Their first joint exhibition of recent paintings and drawings opened at the Chapel Row Gallery between 5 - 22 April 2008.

Both experienced painters, they manipulate the colour and texture of paint to produce highly personal, individual paintings of the landscape that reflect the hand and the eye and the mind of the artist.

They paint landscapes they know very well. Inshaw paints over and over again Silbury Hill in Wiltshire close to his home in Devizes, exploring the many variations of light and weather that surround it. Macdonald returns to her childhood landscapes of St. Catherine's Point on the Isle of Wight, and to the countryside on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire borders where she now lives.
